And now the important question: Clothes.

Due to kindness of our friends, this kid already has more clothes than SK and me combined. I am serious.

I put all the size 2 and size 3 shoes we have received in the top drawer of her dresser. When I showed SK, his exact words were "Fricken' women". Yep, we girls like our shoes.

Isabella is currently 26.4" long and weighs 15.43 pounds. Cheryl thinks she'll be mainly in 3-6 month year old clothes. I am trying to figure out what combination of 3-6 month and 6-9 month year old clothes to take. Mostly 3-6 month and just a few 6-9 month? How many pairs of shoes did you all bring? Help!!!

I am trying very hard not to engage in any clothes or toy buying right now. I've been busy preparing the care package: we have a blanket, toy key chain, a book with rattler and teether, a small stuffed butterfly, and the photo album (which I am finishing up and labeling). We also have some hand lotion for the nannies, a disposable camera, and a list of questions, of course!

In other news, our agency suggests we may travel on 9/13 rather than 9/20. I say "Let's go!"

Yahoo a week earlier than expected, that would be great!!! I'll keep praying for that for you guys!!!! As for clothes, I say take the same amount of each, what you don't need you can leave at the SWI (thats what we did) As for shoes, don't bring more than one pair, babies have wierd feet and you won't be able to tell what size she'll need till you try them on. Besides squeaky shoes are CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP and oh so cute (you can remove the squeaker don't worry)!!
I'm getting excited for you guys!!!

I'd bring mainly 3-6 month with a few 6-9, just in case. Don't bring any shoes, or no more than one pair. You will be able to buy her tons of cute, cute shoes for about $3.00 a pair in China. Even if you don't find any in your province, you'll find plenty in Guangzhou.

We didn't bring any with us. Sera wore the shoes she was wearing when we got her until we got to Guangzhou. I then put them away because I didn't want to lose them, plus they were too big. We found plenty of shoes in Guangzhou.

I went by the weight and height indicators on the clothing tags. Whatever you do bring lots of pajamas. I brought a few pair but it wasn't enough and none of them fit (feet jammies that were too short). Babies soil jammies faster than other clothes. At least that was my experience.

Shoes???? Don't bother. She most likely isn't walking and you'll be carrying her everywhere. Besides they like to pull them off any chance they get so you're bound to lose 'em anyway. Oh and tell SK that a girl can never have enough shoes. You will need to refortify your supply in GZ. Squeeky shoes rule!!

One more thing while I'm handing out useless assvice. Take a picure of your name, address and phone number with the disposable camera. That way if it gets handed to another family when they develop the prints they can track you down. We didn't get the camera back but the SWI gave us 5 pictures of Grace in and around the SWI and in her crib.

Lindsey weighed 16 pounds at Gotcha and there is no way she would have fit into 3-6 or even 6-9 month clothes. She wore mostly 12 months in China. Isabella is a bit smaller so probably 6-9 but I guess I have a hard time believing 3-6 months would fit?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Our daughter was about the same size and Carter 6 month clothes fit her the best. The Gap/Gymboree 6-12 month clothes were falling off. I did bring some diaper pins in case I needed to pin things :) but even if they were a bit too big, she wasn't crawling or walking when we got her so it didn't matter much. It's so hot in Southern China that loose fitting clothes are nice :) Oh, if she's not walking.don't worry about taking shoes. Congrats!!

I'd say about 1/2 and 1/2. Even though "they" say to pack light, I packed LOTS for Siya, as I was in the usual pickle of guessing what size too. That way you have both. Getting laundry done is a cinch, so you can have a running inventory circulating at all times.

Speaking of laundry, wash the clothes you'll be packing (or buying over there) for Bella, as you don't want her breaking out in a rash.
