We have a name!
I wore him down ... Last night Tim finally gave in and was willing to commit to a name for our child!!! So here goes:
1. For a girl: Isabella Carmen
Isabella is Italian in origin and means "consecrated to God". Carmen is Tim's grandmother's name, and she is a beautiful lady, inside and out. Carmen is Latin in origin and means "Song". We will follow Carmen with a Chinese name, either part of her original name or with "Li", which means "strength".
2. For a boy: Samuel Kindahl
Samuel is Hebrew in origin and means "God hears". Kindahl is the surname of an economics professor that is near and dear to my heart, James K. Kindahl. He passed away a few years ago. I recently established, with the support of his family, a memorial prize for excellence in undergraduate economics at Umass-Amherst. We would also include a Chinese name before or after Kindahl.
It is a wonderful thing to be able to think of "Isabella" or "Sam" instead of"her" or "him".
