Introduction
We are in the process of adopting a child from China, and we want to share our experience with family and friends. This child will be our first child, and how he or she is wanted! We are excited, nervous, impatient, joyful, and a bit scared, sometimes all at once. We worry about each piece of paperwork, as each document brings us one tiny step closer to being a mom and a dad.
I know two things about what kind of parents we will make. The first is that we will make mistakes. The second is that in spite of these mistakes, we will be loving, devoted parents.
We are working with the Datz Foundation to do our homestudy, and with China Adoption With Love, Inc. (www.cawli.org) for our placement services. We have requested a child that is as young as possible, a girl or a boy.
It is strange to think that it is possible that our daughter or son may have already been born on the other side of the world.
We hope you'll stick with us, as we share our ups, downs, thoughts, and feelings as we make our way to building the family Tim and I have always wanted.
