Our child will be an Isabella...
Today the social worker from CAWLI, Stephanie, reviewed our draft homestudy. She told us that since we had left the gender of the child unspecified, we would most likely be referred a boy. So, Tim and I talked and decided to adopt a girl specifically, since there are more adopted Chinese girls in the United States than adopted Chinese boys, and we want her sense of community to be as strong as possible. If we were to adopt a second child, which we hope to do, we would leave gender unspecified, with the realization that we would most likely be referred a boy. By then we will have more experience in the Chinese adoption community. So, we will have a daughter! Tim loves to walk around saying "Bella!" with a pretty bad fake Italian accent.
